BUiD’s Professor Shares His Expertise on Internationalisation of Universities at the Seventh SHARE Policy Dialogue

Dr. Christopher Hill, Associate Professor of Education, Director of Doctoral Training Centre at BUiD was a keynote speaker at Seventh SHARE Policy Dialogue, which was held on 31 October-1 November 2017 in Vientiane, Lao PDR under the theme “Capitalising on ASEAN – Internationalisation Strategies for CLMV Universities”.  Over 150 participants comprising education policy makers, senior managers and teachers from 16 universities in CLMV (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam) countries and students took part in the event.  The event was organised and delivered by the European Union SHARE and the Ministry of Education and Sports, LAO PDR.

In His Keynote “Internationalisation of universities: What is it good for?” Dr. Hill outlined the key themes and issues related to internationalisation, and the value of development for universities in this area.  The talk outlined the importance and value of internationalisation and discussed mechanisms for engagement and collaboration.  Dr Hill introduced methodologies and toolkits for and highlighted the challenges, obstacles and opportunities facing CLMV universities.  The keynote stressed the need to consider a regional approach to internationalisation and develop contextual and sustainable solutions based on a firm understanding of capacity and expectations.
