Biomimicry for an Innovative and Sustainable Built Environment

Dr Hanan Taleb, Assistant Professor of Sustainable Design of the Built Environment at BUiD, was invited as a keynote speaker at the Second International Congress on Sustainable Architecture and Urbanism, which was held in Knowledge Village on 11-12 March 2016. Dr Hanan gave a talk titled “Biomimicry for an Innovative & Sustainable Built Environment: Case Studies in UAE” in which she explained that the goal of biomimicry is to create products, processes, and policies that are well adapted to life on earth. She added that from an architectural point of view, biomimicry looks at the natural world to seek clues as how to achieve radical increases in resource efficiency.
