BUiD academic staff participates in 16th International Conference of Asian Shipping and Logistics (ICASL 2023)

Dr Derar Al-Daboubi, Assistant Professor of International Commercial Law and Maritime Law, at The British University in Dubai participated in 16th International Conference of Asian

Shipping and Logistics (ICASL 2023) which was held virtually on 2 June 2023 with the theme ‘Challenges and Digital Transformation and Global Recession to Shipping Industry’.

In his paper titled, ‘The Ability of the E-bill of Lading to Perform the Triple Function of a Traditional Bill of Lading: An Analysis under International Instruments and UAE Law’, Dr Al-Daboubi, discussed the efficacy of the UAE Maritime Law in regulating the Electronic Bill of Lading compared with the relevant international instruments. He proposed some recommendations that can be adopted in the UAE Maritime Law in order to regulate the three-fold role of the e-bill of lading.

ICASL is an annual international event devoted to shipping and logistics studies to provide a platform for academics, researchers, policy makers, specialists, and practitioners working in port, shipping, aviation transportation and logistics.
