Dean of Education invited as a guest of honour at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin

Professor Eman Gaad, The Dean of Education at BUiD, was invited as a guest of honour the Special Olympics World Games Berlin. Professor Gaad also participated in the Global Forum for Inclusion – Partnering for Action on 17 and 18 June, where she moderated a panel discussion on Inclusive education and inclusive communities in a global context. the panellists were Dr. Katarina Barley, Vice President, European Parliament, Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Susan Liautaud, Vice Chair, Global Partnership for Education, Salihin Bin Nawi, Global Youth Leadership Council, SO Singapore, Simran Sahni, Global Youth Leadership Council, SO Singapore, Kurtis Siu, Sargent Shriver International Global Messenger (SSIGM), SO Hong Kong.

In addition to her role as the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Gaad is also professor of special and inclusive education. She has over 20 years of experience in the field where her efforts where acknowledged locally and globally.

This forum aimed to bring together Special Olympics athletes, youth leaders, heads of state, heads of government, ministers, dignitaries, representatives of intergovernmental organizations, civil society, researchers, and the private sector, with the goal of driving initiatives on inclusion forward and shifting the global conversation on inclusion from policy to action so that living inclusion becomes a reality for those with intellectual disabilities. The Global Forum will provide a platform for a call-to-action across the government, business, and social sectors to commit financially and politically to building more inclusive communities.
