The British University in Dubai offers Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM) training

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) in collaboration with the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) offered the Certified Demand Side Manager (CDSM) training for the first time outside the USA. The workshop was attended by 12 professionals from major electricity utility providers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates, and from Saudi Arabia. This workshop is the latest addition to the portfolio of AEE professional workshops which have been delivered in BUiD’s Professional Development and Examinations Centre (PDEC) since 2013.

Demand Side Management (DSM) is an important component in the national energy policy in the UAE and the wider Gulf region as DSM strategies and procedures help reduce the cost of electricity production while maintaining a high level of electrical power availability and reliability. It also reduces the need for heavy investments in electrical grid infrastructure. This helps reduce the cost for consumers and allows electrical utility companies to invest the money saved in other more productive/environmentally friendly projects, such as in renewable energy.
