BCS Foundation Award in Understanding Ethical Principles in the IT Profession

Course Objective

This Award is designed to enable individuals to explore ethics in relation to their own role and the ethical principles upheld within the IT profession. It aims to show them how to identify common threats to their ethical behaviour and the safeguards that can help to minimise these threats. It also considers the role of legislation and corporate governance in ensuring ethical standards are promoted and maintained.

Upon successful completion, you will receive a globally recognised certificate (and 5 credits) awarded by BCS at SFIA Plus Level 3, and free annual Associate membership to BCS to further develop your career and grow your professional network.

 

Course Duration and Exam

The BCS recommend 50 hours of learning to prepare for the exam, including 16hrs using this course and a further 34hrs of independent study.

A 30 min. ‘closed book’ exam, with 16 multiple-choice questions & 2 scenario-based questions (worth 2 marks each). The pass mark is 65% (13/20) and you can take the exam from home (computer with webcam required). You will have 12 months access to the course to help you prepare.
