BUiD’s Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer speaks at an international webinar on Covid-19 and higher education
Hugh Martin, the Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer at The British University in Dubai, joined a panel of top educational experts on a webinar organised by Al Tamimi, the leading law firm in the UAE. The webinar looked at the lessons higher education can learn from COVID-19 as well as identifying some of the future opportunities.
In his remarks, Hugh debunked some of the current myths about ‘the new normal’ and the supposed decline of university campuses. He also stressed the importance of the student experience, noting that universities must focus on ensuring students are able to benefit from the full range of extracurricular activities that make up a university degree beyond the classroom.
Over 120 attendees participated in the webinar from across the GCC as well as internationally including from African, Australian, American, British, Indian, and Irish universities.The webinar, which was held on Thursday 4 June 2020, was the first in a series of discussions about the ongoing pandemic and its effects on education.
