BUiD’s Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer writes an article about branch campuses

 

In his article for the Association of Heads of University Administration titled ‘Vestiges of empire? An international perspective on branch campuses’, Hugh Martin, BUiD’s Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer, shares his thoughts on the past, present, and future of branch campuses. He notes that branch campuses began as a manifestation of colonialism: a direct, and not especially subtle, method of inculcating western ideas of what constituted a proper education. He suggests that a new model is now needed. He also gives his personal perspective on branch campuses in Dubai, the challenges and risks they face, and the opportunities available for truly international partnerships.
