Dr Tendai Charles speaks about AI, Assessment, and the Future of Higher Education in the UAE
Dr. Tendai Charles, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, represented BUiD as a guest speaker at the University of Birmingham for their ‘Dubai Teaching & Learning Community of Practice Session’ under the theme “Generative AI, Digital Confidence, and the Future of Teaching & Learning”, which took place on Monday 24th November 2025. In his presentation titled, “AI, Assessment, and the Future of Higher Education in the UAE”, Dr Charles argued that traditional assessment methods are unreliable measures of learning in the modern-era, and how universities can adopt ‘authentic assessments’ with AI-integration as a more effective pedagogical strategy.
