The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT wins the AEE award for Energy Professional Development
Professor Bassam Abu-Hijleh, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT, won the AEE’s Energy Professional Development 2020 award. Prof. Bassam received the award for his outstanding accomplishments in the training and development of energy engineers and managers. The AEE awards 2020 ceremony was done virtually on 14 October 2020 to honour the Energy Efficiency Professionals.
Prof. Bassam has been responsible for the development of several, energy and sustainability related programmes at BUiD such as MSc in Sustainable Design of the Built Environment and PhD in Architecture and Sustainable Built Environment. Prof. Bassam is actively contributing to enhance the AEE’s presence and status in the region. He has significant contributions to building capable professionals in the UAE. He is the interim president of the AEE UAE chapter and is leading the establishment of an AEE student chapter in BUiD.
The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) was founded in 1977, as a non-profit professional society of over 18,000 members in more than 100 countries. The mission of AEE is “to promote the scientific and educational interests of those engaged in the energy industry and to foster action for Sustainable Development.”
