The Faculty of Education hosts a panel session on teacher’s professional values and ethics in multicultural environment

The Faculty of Education at the British University in Dubai hosted a panel session on teacher’s professional values and ethics in multicultural environment. The panel was moderated by Dr Solomon Arulraj David with participation of Professor Michael Osborne from University of Glasgow, UK, Professor Eman Gaad, BUiD’s Dean of Education, Ms Amal Saeed, Principal of Al Zawraa school in Ajman and Ms Rania Amaireh, Principal, Beaconhouse Al Khaleej International School in Sharjah.

The panellists shared their reflections from both academic and practitioners’ perspectives. They argued that teacher’s professional values and ethics are profession specific. They highlighted that student and staff diversity in multicultural environment pose opportunities and challenges for teacher professionalism. Interesting questions from the participants were discussed and the panel ended highlighting the importance of teacher professionalism, epistemic obligation and the code of conduct for educators.
