Course Objective

The HNC in Cyber Security (Level 4) aims to equip learners with core technical knowledge and practical skills required to understand, manage, and protect digital systems.

Body of Knowledge

The Level 4 HNC Cyber Security programme consists of six core units, each carrying 20 credits:

  • Information Technology Security – Introduces fundamental security principles, threat types, risk management, and system protection techniques.
  • Principles of Computer Science – Covers foundational computing concepts, hardware, software, and computational thinking.
  • Algorithms and Data Structures – Develops logical thinking, problem-solving, and algorithmic design skills essential for computing and security analysis.
  • Computer Networks – Explores network architectures, protocols, connectivity, and basic network security concepts.
  • Mathematics for Computer Science – Focuses on mathematical methods and logical reasoning used in computing and cybersecurity applications.
  • Operating Systems – Examines operating system structures, processes, memory management, and system security fundamentals.
