Dr Christina Lienen is an Oxford educated public law academic, barrister and accredited mediator. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from University College London (UCL). Her thesis focused on constitutional law, judicial reasoning in the English common law, and human rights. Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed a Magister Juris (MJur) at the University of Oxford.
Dr Lienen’s research interests include public law, public international law, constitutional frameworks and rights, critical socio-legal studies and religion. She has published a monograph, peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has presented her research at many international conferences. She also has extensive teaching experience, having held positions as a Teaching Fellow at SOAS University of London and UCL as well as a Visiting Lecturer at The University of Law in Bristol and London.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr Lienen is a qualified barrister, having been called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2019. She worked as a public law and data protection barrister in London for almost 4 years prior to joining academia full-time, representing clients in court and at mediations, and offering litigation related advice. She is an Associate Member at Cornerstone Barristers, her previous chambers.
