Short Bio

He is passionate about developing scalable adaptive systems that automatically improve their performance. I am particularly interested in studying networks of agents and developing distributed learning algorithms that allow these agents to cooperate optimize the structure of the network of (concurrently) learning agents. An orthogonal direction to optimizing performance in agent networks is to develop a framework for reigourous experimental analysis, which expose to researchers the underlying dynamics of such complex networks. In particular, he is investigating the use of social network analysis techniques to understand the dynamics of learning over networks.

I am also interested in applying the techniques I have devloped in realistic settings that span over interdisciplinary areas, including atmospheric studies, e-commerce, information retrieval, mobile devices, sensor nets, and network management.

His research focuses on developing reinforcement learning algorithms that are scalable and have some guarantee of convergence in a multi-agent context. He is also interested in applying data mining techniques to real and novel problems, including mobile devices, network management, and information retrieval. He collaborated with world-class researchers in the United States, South America, and Europe. He worked on research projects funded by the National Science Foundation (USA), some of which involved hundred researchers from interdisciplinary areas.
