Short Bio

Dr Sulafa Badi is Associate Professor of Management and Organizational Behaviour at the British University in Dubai (BuiD) and Honorary Senior Fellow at the Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management, University College London (UCL). She started her career as an Architect before joining academia and holds an MSc in Construction Economics and Management and a PhD in Project Management, both from UCL.

 

Dr Sulafa’s research expertise is in the areas of digital transformation and innovation. She integrates organisational behaviour theories including individual differences, power, value co-creation and social networks to broaden understanding of innovation and its contribution to sustainable development in the built environment. In 2012, she co-founded the UCL Centre for Organisational Network Analysis (CONA@UCL). Her research has had both academic and practical impact and involved studies in the United Kingdom, China, India and the Middle East. She examined a variety of contexts including large infrastructure projects, service ecosystems, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), and community stakeholders. She secured research funding from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Transport for London (TfL), Innovate UK and British University in Dubai (BUiD). She presented the findings of her research at many international research conferences, winning several ‘Best Paper’ awards. She also published her research in leading international journals, including Industrial Marketing Management, Project Management Journal, Construction Management and Economics, and the European Management Journal.

 

Dr Sulafa is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and has taught at both Master and Doctoral levels in the subjects of organisational behaviour, business leadership, operations management, organisational change, project management, supply chain management and social networks in project and enterprise organisations.
