From 2020 to 2024, Dr Charles has been the official organiser for TEDx Talks at the British University in Dubai. In 2023, Dr Charles was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education MENA award under the category of Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year. In 2022, Dr Charles was declared by Anthology (USA) as the Catalyst award winner for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. In 2021 and 2020, Dr Charles was the MENA region winner of the Global Accessibility Awareness Day competition organised by Blackboard Ally (USA).
