The British University in Dubai’s (BUiD) Graduating batch of 2017 will be the first Graduates in the country and third in the world to receive a Smart Certificate during the Graduation Ceremony scheduled to be held on 13 December 2017 at Al Mamzar Cultural and research Centre. These Smart Certificates have already received the proof of Concept (POC) that is the first step in generating a smart certification using the Block Chain Technology. The concept of Smart Certificates is BUiD’s way of showing its commitment towards HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai’s Block Chain Strategy of UAE Government and other organisations going paperless by 2020. This project is a result of the collaboration of University of Nicosia and BUiD’s Centre for Risk and Innovation (DCRI).
