Who are Certified Building Commissioning Professionals?

• Do you lead, plan, coordinate or manage the building systems commissioning processes in new and existing buildings on behalf of building owners?
• Are you an energy professional, with technical, management and communication skills, that undertakes building commissioning services to federally funded projects?
• Are you a consultant that specializes in the energy efficiency of building systems, identifies upgrades or ensures optimization for their ongoing needs?

Building commissioning experts play a crucial role in guaranteeing that new building systems are meticulously designed, installed, tested, and ready for operation and maintenance in alignment with the owner’s objectives, specifications, and operational necessities. They take charge of, strategize, organize, and record the commissioning procedure for various types of structures, including hospitals, data centres, airports, university campuses, schools, and office buildings. They engage with commissioning teams and on-site staff, which could include contractors, suppliers, testing agencies, and auditors. Additionally, they may oversee the revitalization, enhancements, and optimization of systems to enhance the performance and efficiency of existing buildings.

Eligibility Criteria

Education	Work Experience
4-year related* degree OR Professional Engineer (PE) OR Registered Architect (RA)	AND 3+ Years related* experience
4-year unrelated degree	AND 5+ years related* experience
2-year associate degree	AND 5+ years related* experience
NONE	AND 10+ years related* experience
Current Status of Certified Energy Manager (CEM®)

*Related degree in science, engineering, architecture, business, law, finance, or related field and related experience in facilities management HVAC or process engineering design, construction project management, electrical/controls design, installation or operations, testing, adjusting, and balancing, or building commissioning.
