LEED AP (O+M)

Overview

LEED for Operations and Maintenance (O+M) presents an opportunity for existing buildings to prioritize their operational efficiency. This applies to whole structures and interior spaces that have been in active use for at least one year. These projects may involve renovation efforts or minimal to no construction.

By emphasizing both sustainable strategies focused on performance and their resulting outcomes, LEED contributes to the creation of high-performing buildings. It’s worth noting that even if a newly constructed building is exceptionally energy-efficient, it can take up to 80 years to offset the environmental impacts of demolishing an existing building and erecting a new one. Many older buildings worldwide are currently inefficient and deplete resources, but by diligently addressing building operations, LEED O+M offers a pathway to improvement.
