Emergency Response Team

The objective of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) at the British University in Dubai (BUiD) is to effectively manage and respond to emergencies on campus, ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. The ERT aims to create a safe and secure environment at BUiD by ensuring preparedness and an organized approach to managing emergencies. Key objectives include:

—  Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring all team members are trained to handle various types of emergencies, including fire, medical incidents, natural disasters, and security threats.

—  Immediate Response: Provide a swift and organized response to emergencies, minimizing harm, preventing panic, and reducing property damage by following pre-established protocols.

—  Evacuation Management: Ensure the safe and orderly evacuation of all campus occupants during an emergency, guiding them to designated assembly points while coordinating with other teams like fire marshals and security personnel.

—  Communication and Coordination: Maintain clear and effective communication with internal departments (security, health and safety, facilities management) and external emergency services (fire department, police, medical services) to manage the situation efficiently.

—  First Aid and Support: Provide first aid and immediate assistance to those in need until professional medical help arrives.

—  Risk Mitigation: Assess potential hazards and take preventive actions to reduce risks to life, health, and property during emergency situations.

—  Post-Emergency Recovery: Assist in the recovery process after the emergency by coordinating necessary repairs, debriefing, and reviewing the incident to improve future response efforts.
