BUiD Assistant Professor co-authors a research paper in Q1 Expert Systems with Applications journal

Dr Nahia Mourad, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, co-authored a research paper titled, ‘Ensemble Generalized Three-Way Decision Approach under Mixed-Normal Hesitant Fuzzy Sets for Evaluating IoT–Blockchain Integration in Supply Chain Performance’ in the Expert Systems with Applications, a Q1 journal ranked among the top 10% in its field.

In their study, the authors, Nahia Mourad, Sarah Qahtan, Aws Alaa Zaidan, Bilal Bahaa, Hassan A. Alsattar, Weiping Ding, and Yiyu Yao proposed an Ensemble Generalized Three-Way Decision (EG3WD) framework to evaluate the integration of Blockchain and Internet of Things (BCT–IoT) technologies for enhancing supply chain performance. The proposed approach addresses limitations in existing evaluation methods by accounting for interdependencies and improving robustness under uncertainty. It integrates a bi-level hierarchical Half-Quadratic Programming (HQP) structure with a weighting mechanism based on a reformulated Fuzzy-Weighted-Zero-Inconsistency-Based Interrelationship Process (FWZICbIP) within a Mixed-Normal Hesitant Fuzzy Sets (MNHFS) framework. The methodology incorporates expert judgments from multiple domains and employs a dynamic fuzzy-opinion matrix to link BCT–IoT alternatives to functional perspectives. The approach is validated on 40 alternatives and demonstrates superior performance in handling uncertainty and enhancing decision reliability compared to existing methods.
