BUiD’s student and academic staff co-author a research paper in the Asian Journal of Civil Engineering

Priji Biju, a student on the PhD in Sustainable Built Environments, and Dr Nahia Mourad, Assistant Professor of Mathematics at BUiD, along with Ahmed Mohamed Habib co-authored a research titled, ‘Sustainable development factors in building engineering systems: do demographic factors matter?’ in the Asian Journal of Civil Engineering.

This study, based on a survey of 101 professionals in the UAE’s construction sector, identified strong correlations among sociocultural (SOC), economic (ECO), and environmental (ENV) sustainability factors. Results showed consistent distributions of SOC, ECO, and ENV across gender, specialization, and experience groups. ECO and ENV distributions remained stable across age groups, while SOC showed a stronger presence among professionals over the age of 25.
